Stop talking about your past! At least the part of it that doesn’t serve you. When we talk about something from our past that doesn’t serve us, it keeps us stuck in the past!

I caught myself today telling a friend part of my (past) story on how my uncle treated me and my family and how he ruined part of my childhood, blah, blah, blah…. I have told that story 100’s of times. I stopped myself mid-sentence and said, “I am not going to continue that story anymore.” “It keeps me stuck in my past and I can’t move on from it!” “I am done, please don’t ever let me speak of that again, it doesn’t serve me.”

Wow, did that feel empowering!

One of my clients needs validation from her friends, family and co-workers because she never got it as a child from her parents. Her mother ignored her and her father stood by and watched. It’s a great “story” that creates drama but also keeps her stuck in the past re-living an unnecessary part of her past as a victim. She never felt accepted so longs now for that acceptance from others and loses herself and her self worth to try and get that acceptance from others. It’s a story that comes up on a regular basis and she sees the patterning throughout her life and how this belief limits her in her current life experience. She has recently told me she is ready to “let it go.”

Another client has told me about her husband who was controlling and took her power away. She speaks of how he “ruined her.” She has been divorced from him for over 10 years! She speaks as if he just said something controlling to her 5 minutes ago. It keeps her stuck in her past when she talks about it.  She will stay in the victim mode of “My ex-husband ruined me,” and her life will revolve around that powerful belief until she decides to let go of being a victim.

When we keep talking about our hurt or pain from the past it keeps us stuck there, as victims. Whether it happened 10 minutes ago or 10 years ago we literally step back in time and relive that story energetically.

Reminiscing about positive past experiences is wonderful. It creates many positive benefits to the mind and body. If it’s a negative story from our past, we step into and feel that pain, heartache and suffering all over again. We create drama by re-telling a worn out story that doesn’t serve us anymore. We get un-necessary “sympathy energy” from others.

The worst of it is that our brains do not know if we are experiencing it now or 10 years ago.  All that our brain knows is NOW so when we are re-telling our old story it is giving us the physical, mental and emotional experience all over again as if it’s happening this very instance! We tax our adrenals and put unnecessary stress on our entire system.

How do we stop?

Become aware of what we are feeling in every moment. We are like broken records telling others about our past. We must become aware of how our past stories make us feel. If when we are talking about something and it is making us feel bad physically (tightness/constriction anywhere in the body, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate etc) or emotionally (sadness, grief, anger etc.) then STOP telling the story! I realized today while telling my friend my uncle story that my energy had dropped and I was getting mad and felt like a victim all over again, even though I was telling a story from over 30 years ago!

What to do instead?

Either change the subject completely and/or make light of it and say something like, “There I go again, keeping myself stuck in the past.”

Another option is to ask yourself, “Is there a blessing in disguise?” “What good came from it?”

What I said to my friend was, “As much pain as my uncle caused my family, the situation did cause me to be strong and to speak up for myself, what a great asset to have in life.”

This is a great exercise of self empowerment and awareness. Becoming aware of how we feel in the moment will create a balanced life by steering clear of the past negative events that throw us off course.

A few months ago my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s been an interesting journey and have had many epiphanies that I am excited to share.

The question that my mother has asked since her diagnoses is, “How did this happen to me?” Being that she is in my family, she has been exposed to the Law of Attraction (what you think about comes about/manifests in your life.)

My mother’s mother died of breast cancer and my mother’s sister is a survivor of breast cancer. With this disease “running in the family” my mother decided long ago that this was “not for her” and “she would never get cancer.” She held the belief, “I’ll never get breast cancer.” My belief has always been that a gene may run in the family but it’s the vibration of the illness and buying into it that gets passed down the family.

Because of my mother now developing this disease she has asked me repeatedly about how she “attracted” this in. I am not God but I do have my theories…

The Law of Attraction states that “Like attracts Like” and “What you think about comes about.” These are cute little statements but what do they really mean and how do they really work. With disease we want a deeper meaning of this Law.

ENERGY AND VIBRATION

We know and scientists have proven that EVERYTHING IS ENERGY. Energy also holds a vibration (meaning, it moves either fast or slow or somewhere in between). Because everything is energy, our thoughts are also energy as are our emotions and feelings. A positive emotion and thought illicit a light, expanded feeling in our body (fast moving energy) and a negative emotion carries a heavy and contracted feeling in our bodies (because of the energy moving slower).

The Law of Attraction matches our vibration, and we must tune into our body to determine how a given statement feels then we will know what is being manifested for us.

Remember the universe doesn’t hear words like “no, not or never,” it’s matching our feeling.

The universe reads the dominant vibration ALWAYS. When my mother was stating all of this time, “I’ll never get breast cancer,” the dominant vibration is “breast cancer!” The better statement would be, “My body maintains excellent health” or “I am healthy!” For a moment, state these two statements out loud and feel the difference. Where do you feel it in your body? Which statement feels better? “I’ll never get breast cancer.” OR “I am healthy!” The latter is expansive and feels better. THAT would be the vibration I would want manifested in my life.

My guess is that my mother did have fear of disease or tragedy etc. and that was her dominant vibration. There are many variables and disease is not this black and white. But I know for sure that Law of Attraction is ALWAYS on, and always working.

While exploring my mother’s dominant vibration with her, we discovered that in the last year she had lost 2 of her close friends to cancer, another two were diagnosed and treated for breast cancer and yet another had quadrouple bypass surgery. Now for anyone THAT would be a lot to handle. More importantly, we examined what her feelings and emotions were around these events. We discovered fear of death, disease and tragedy. So regardless of her thoughts, her dominant feelings were fears.

SO WHAT COULD SHE HAVE DONE TO HELP HERSELF?

When something “bad” happens, we tend not to want to feel it. We may acknowledge it, cry about it but don’t process it. We are taught as children to “be strong,” “don’t let things get you down” etc. We have a lot of programming in our brains that don’t serve us. We learn when something bad happens we need to disassociate from it, basically take our energy out of our body so we don’t really feel it.

Instead what’s better for us is to feel what happens to us. Notice in our body where the fear, sadness, anger resides. Is it in our stomach? Throat? Chest tight? Where is that energy in the body? Notice it and be with it. Allow the emotion to process through the body until it’s gone. We may cry, punch something or just notice the energy move. There is no right or wrong way to do this. The important part is to allow the energy to move out of our energy field and not keep it in the field.

When we keep the negative energy (unprocessed emotion) in our field it becomes our new dominant vibration, our new point of attraction.

My mom has a mastectomy over Thanksgiving and is now cancer free.  It’s been quite the experience for her as she is healing physically and emotionally and is now willing to look at some things in the past year that could have triggered this as well as looking into her future and how she is going to live a more balanced life, with less stress, more meditation and paying attention to her words, her vibration and how they feel in her body.

I remember growing up saying a blessing before we ate our meals. I never quite understood why we did this until a few years ago when I learned the relationship between food and energy.

This is a beautiful excerpt from the book Nourishing Traditions that reminds us the importance of being present in performing every daily task, even preparing our meals.

“If woman could see the sparks of light going forth from her fingertips when she is cooking and the substance of light that goes into the food she handles, she would be amazed to see how much of herself she charges into the meals that she prepares for her family and friends.

It is one of the most important and least understood activities of life-that the radiation and feeling that go into the preparation of food affect everyone who partakes of it, and this activity should be unhurried, peaceful and happy.  It would be better that an individual did not eat at all than to eat food that has been prepared under a feeling of anger, resentment, depression or an outward pressure, because the substance of the lifestream performing the service flows into that food and is eaten and actually becomes part of the energy of the receiver.  That is why the advanced spiritual teachers of the East never eat food prepared by anyone other than their own chelas.  Conversely, if the one preparing the food is the only one in the household who is spiritually advanced and an active charge of happiness, purity and peace pours forth into the food from him, this pours forth into the other members and blesses them.  I might say that there are more ways than one of allowing the Spirit of God to enter the flesh of man.”  (Maha Chohan Electrons)

Recently after having some interactions with a family member I felt a lot of anger and frustration bubble up inside of me.Mature woman looking away day dreaming

As my day went on, I realized an hour had gone by since our interaction and I was still holding the negative emotions from our interaction.

When I tuned into my body, I felt shortness of breath, a knot in my stomach and a heaviness on my chest.

Thinking back to our interaction I realized (1) there was no solution to the problem (I could not fix her or the problem) and (2) I am allowing someone outside of myself to ruin my mood, my health and as time went on, my day.

By holding all of this negative energy, it hurts no one but me!

If I could see inside my body, I would guess my blood pressure had risen dramatically, the aging process had been accelerated due to all the stress chemicals being released and by holding this negative emotion to me to it disconnecting me from my connection to God/the universe. It’s like pinching off a hose with water running through it. I am doing this to myself!

So when in a mood or emotional place like this, with no resolution what can we do?

A technique that I find works remarkably well for instances like this is called The Sedona Method.

With the Sedona Method we ask ourselves a series of questions regarding our mood and/or emotional state. The question and response dialogue used with Sedona creates an outlet for stored negative emotion(s) to exit.

Here are the steps of this process: (I will use my experience as an example)

  1. Ask yourself: “What is my NOW feeling?   (ANGER)
  2. “Could I welcome or allow it?”  (YES)
  3. “Could I let it go?”   (YES)
  4. “Would I let it go?” (YES)
  5. “When?”  (Now)

While asking these questions to yourself really tune into your body, many times you will actually feel the energy/emotions release out of your body. Really sit with each response to the question. Be honest with yourself.

If you should get a “No” answer to any of these questions, ask yourself this question: “Would you rather feel that feeling or be free?” Allow yourself to really sit with your response. Be easy on yourself with the answer, this is a process.

You can use this with yourself or with another person and ask them the questions. The idea behind this method is to continue to release emotions until you reach either a neutral or a happy place. For me, I released anger, frustration, resentment, fear then annoyance which eventually got me to a neutral place.  With each round my negative feeling state lessened.

Our emotions are layered and we must work through the layers to find neutral. The nice thing about Sedona is the speed at which you are able to shift. An experience like this for me took as little as 10 minutes to find neutral or happiness. Once you work this technique a few times you’ll find it to be as fast as it is easy to use.

Have you ever left your house and felt great-happy, joyful, just in  a  good mood, iStock_000009012212XSmalland run your errands only to come home feel fatigued, stressed, and angry or some other negative emotion?  Yes, maybe your errands fatigued you or maybe stressed you or did they? Have you ever met a friend for lunch, a nice lunch, and left feeling some negative emotions and you don’t know why? When we feel negative emotions “out of the blue” and can’t put our finger on where it came from it’s probably not ours!

Here’s what happens:

Quantum physics has proven that when you break the human body down to the smallest particle, it’s energy vibrating. Likewise, our thoughts and emotions are also energy. Negative thought or negative emotion vibrates slower (which is why it feels heavier) and positive thought or emotion vibrates fast (which is why it feels light). Our energy field expands when we are in a good place, in fact, the more we step into a happy, or positive emotional place and feel it, the larger our energy field expands. Just to give you an idea, your energy field (if you are in a really great mood) can be in a 30 foot radius outside of your body.

Someone that is in a bad mood has dense, heavy energy around them and their field may be only inches off of their body. When you with your huge energy field, sweeps through their energy field, you pick up all of their “stuff,” all of their negative emotions. Now you have someone else’s despair, anger, frustration, stress etc. in your field and it weighs you down. This can happen at the grocery store, the mall, work, at lunch with friends etc.

A few of my own examples: A while back I had coffee with a friend. I had just finished writing a new workshop that I had been working on and was on cloud 9! We met for coffee, she had a smile on her face the whole time and things seemed great. However, I left there feeling so exhausted and depressed (out of the blue) and could not wait to get home to lie down and take a nap. I got home and before lying down I went outside and did a few things to “clear my field” and my energy bounced back to where I was before our coffee. I called my friend and I asked her how she felt during coffee and she said she was great until the end when we were getting ready to leave. She was hoping to see the guy she wanted to date and she didn’t and immediately felt depressed and exhausted. She had to go home and take a nap! So I picked up on her emotions, cleared them and “my” depression and fatigue immediately lifted and I went on with my great day. Another example happened recently with my husband. I was in a really energized, good mood, ready to stay up late and work after the kids were in bed. He got home from work and we had a conversation, after that my energy began to get low. I begrudgingly finished making dinner and could not wait to crawl into bed. I told my kids to call my husband for dinner and he was taking a bath and had fallen asleep! He came out and could not stop yawning. We put the kids to bed at 8:30 and crawled into bed, both of us exhausted. I lay there for a moment and remembered how energized I was, I traced it back to our conversation and realized his emotional state “slid” after our conversation and I picked up on him! I cleared myself and felt much better again. He later told me that your conversation really made him feel “off” emotionally. What you can do if this happens to you/clearing techniques:

  1. Stomp your feet outside on the earth (or inside if it’s freezing out) and shake your arms then legs, as if throwing the energy off of them. You can also brush (with your hand) the energy off of your arms and legs as well. Hold the intention that you are shedding all energy and emotion that is not yours.
  2. If you are a yoga person, the beginning of the sun salutation where you sweep your hands over your head, cleanses your energy/auric field.
  3. Draw figure 8’s or the Infiniti symbol in your energy field, all over, big and small.
  4. Visualize yourself taking a shower with beautiful cleansing light washing over your body and energy field. Again, hold the intention that you are cleansing your field of all negative energy and emotions that are not yours.

Awareness is the key to this. Pay attention to how you feel and when your feelings shift. It’s amazing how often we lose our happiness because of someone else’s emotions on us. Enjoy these easy techniques for maintaining your balanced emotional place.

BLUE MOON MAGIC

New Years Eve on December 31, 2009 will be more powerful than a super nova.
This vibration will surpass space and time and will be in the seeds of
ALL LIFE CREATIONS

This super novas give us an energetic boost in whatever direction we are pointed.

Only once in every 20 years, the blue moon appears on New Year’s Eve, as it will this year. On a plain physical level what is happening is that the moon is out of phase with the days. For it to make its complete cycle it’s about 29.5 days. It doesn’t coincide with our month, and that’s why it is out of sync with our Julian calendar. It’s the occurrence of two full moons in one month, which happens every two years, hence the popular quotation “once in a Blue Moon” which means ‘not very often.’ On average, there will be 41 months that have two Full Moons in every century, so you could say that once in a Blue Moon actually means once every two-and-a-half years.

On December 31, 2009, we have a Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse.

On a spiritual level it is as if it asks us to ‘flash forward’ into the next two years to see what we can see. This is the most important New Years Eve we have ever been gifted in a long time. No matter how much you do not believe prophecy from time and earth, it will still affect your energy field and your choices.

Someone suggested this exercise to me and I am glad to pass it forward. This New Years Eve 2009 create an I AM TEMPLATE, an energetic road map into the next two years.

Command the energies into a direction that serves the better good on all levels of your life.

Ask the Light/Angels/Divine Spirit/God/ to release what still pushes your buttons and pulls your strings.

Release the pettiness between you and others, the green-eyed energy that sucks your light.

Release the anger that drains you of your strength, just keeping it alive.

Release the expectations you have of others, as they ride their own horse of a different color.

The I AM TEMPLATE consists of an eternal circle

First, draw the large circle repeating the words I LIVE IN A PLACE OF PLENTY.

Second, on the inside of the circle place everything you plan on creating
in the next two years.

Put down all of your dreams, aspirations, wants, needs, as well what you want
for the planet.

On the outside of the Circle write everything you are choosing to release.

Release all that does not serve your highest good any longer.

Be specific in those releases.

On New Years Eve bless the ‘I AM Template’ and then burn it,
releasing its ashes like a sacred prayer on smoke.

When faced with a situation that you cannot control, one that makes you angry, sad depressed or frustrated there is acceptancegreatpower in acceptance. When finding out your best friend is moving or your husband wants a divorce or a parent is dying our first response is to stop it. After finding ourselves emotionally exhausted, drained and hopeless we still try and figure out how to prevent it from happening.

When we are confronted with a situation that we cannot repair, the next step simply for ourselves is acceptance. Put down your boxing gloves and just accept what is happening, it’s out of your control. By accepting the situation, our life energy is able to flow again, the depression/anxiety/rage dissipates and the dust settles. Clarity is the predominant state when we choose to accept a situation that we cannot change.

Acceptance is not for the benefit of the other person, it is for you and your own healing.
